Three Most Used Baby Items

As a new mom figuring out what your baby is going to need is so overwhelming. Everyone has an opinion of what you do and don’t need. I was very overwhelmed at times while registering. Thank goodness my husband is very decisive and would sometimes just say, “were going with this one.” haha It was actually quite helpful. But I do have a couple favorite items now that our baby is actually here. Number one would be the Dock-A-Tot.

Isn’t he just a little precious peach?! I just love him to pieces! To be honest, at first I thought they were just something to have to post a cute picture of your baby in it. But he actually spends a lot of time in it and loves being in it. A lot of times when he is fussy and I put him in there, it calms him down. I believe he feels soothed and snuggled in it. Such a great baby product! Second would be the MAM Pacifiers. They are by far his favorite pacis. They have saved it many of times from a all out melt down. Lastly, you’re going to need like 80 burp cloths it seems. We are always asking each other to get a burp cloth. They come in handy for many different baby clean ups lol. I love many other baby products, but these are just some practical favorites that come to mind. I sure hope you enjoyed this. Never be afraid to reach out with any other baby questions. I am new to it but sure learning a lot and enjoying every step!

What I Actually Used in my Hospital Delivery Bag (And what I should of left at home)

Hello friends! I just had a baby about 3 weeks ago so this is fresh in my mind and relevant. During my pregnancy I often wondered if I overpacked, packed enough or knew exactly what to pack for delivery. I had a bag for my stuff, a bag for my bathroom/toiletry stuff, a bag for baby and a bag for my husband. That worked out well for us. I am going to mainly focus on what I packed and actually used from my bag in this blog post. But it’s important to note that for baby you will need a carseat, a going home outfit, blanket, pacifier and burp cloths. The hospital will provide diapers and wipes while you are there.

What I actually used while at the hospital:

  • Slippers
  • Nursing nightgown & robe set
  • Shampoo, conditioner & body wash
  • Hair brush/ products
  • Mascara, blush and light foundation
  • Comfortable, loose going home outfit
  • My own pillows from home
  • My own blanket from home
  • Fuzzy socks
  • Mad-libs
  • 2 nursing bras
  • Hair Tie
  • Chapstick
  • Flip Flops
  • Digital camera
  • Extra bag for things they gave me to take home
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush & toothpaste

Bringing items from home, especially like your own pillow and blanket give a nice comfort. Also chapstick is a MUST! My lips were dry very often while I was there, so my favorite chapstick was great to have on deck. Also the first shower is somewhat daunting so having my own soaps and wearing my own flip flops was comforting.

What I could of left at home:

  • Underware
  • 4 “extra” just in case outfits
  • Extra socks
  • Depends/ pads from home

I never once wore my own undies there. After delivery they give you mesh undies that are not super sexy but work really well with the large pad they provide so just roll with it lol. Also I was only there one night so extra outfits were not necessary. I wore my slippers most of the time and fuzzy socks with grips when I felt like it.

What the hospital provided:

  • Pads
  • Mesh Undies
  • Pain Spray
  • Witch Hazel pads
  • A Squirt Bottle
  • A Halo Sleep Sack
  • Booklets/ papers on papers

I hope this post was helpful for new first time moms or any moms! Being a mom is the greatest thing ever so congrats and good luck to any mom-to-be reading this! Totally feel free to contact me with any other questions. I am a pretty open book! Have a wonderful rest of your day!

9 Pregnancy Must-haves

Hello All! If you’re reading this blog, thanks. You’re awesome. Today I’ll be discussing all of the pregnancy essentials I have found very comforting or necessary while being pregnant. Number one on my list would be a pregnancy pillow. I don’t think I’d be able to sleep without mine. It supports my neck, head, hips, legs and belly. It’s like sleeping in a cozy hug all night. They are amazing! There are so many different types out there but I got mine on Amazon, where I basically get everything.

Next would be a bump support pillow. My pregnancy pillow is shaped like a “C” so when I flip to the side that is open my bump doesn’t feel as supported so I throw my handy dandy bump support pillow under it. I travel with both of those pillows. They have become a part of me lol. My husband says that sometimes it feel like a barricade between us and he can’t wait until I can sleep with just a normal pillow again so we can snuggle more. He’s so cute. πŸ™‚

I also would say a must-have is Motherhood maternity leggings. They are by far my favorite. I have like 5 black pairs and 2 navy and get so sad when none of clean. Another crucial item is slip on comfortable walking shoes. I found a pair I love on amazon (shocker) by the brand “Lancrop.” They are called “Women’s Comfortable Walking Shoes – Lightweight Mesh Slip On Athletic Sneakers.” They have been awesome for me! They are comfy all day long. They also come in 26 colors but mine are black/white. Next on my list of essentials is slippers. Just any pair. Your feet get swollen and slippers are so nice for around the house.

Next up is my personal favorite… loose comfy pajamas. I am all about comfort. They are so necessary with an expanding body and bump. Also the book, ‘What To Expect When You’re Expecting,’ is a great resource to have on deck. Another one is tummy butter. My belly gets so itchy so it feels so much better and moisturized when I use some. Last but not least is pregnancy safe products such as lotions, shower items, cleaners, etc. I like to know what is in the products I’m using around my home and on my skin. Some of my favorite brands are Native, Mrs. Meyer’s, Noodle & Boo and Hello Bello.

Another last tip I guess is just try not to google too much. Google is great is sometimes with pregnancy it can really worry you more than you need. You already have enough on your plate! I hope this post was helpful or at least somewhat fun to read. Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!

My Top 5 Favorite Apps Right Now

Happy Thursday everyone! Today I’d like to tell you about my favorite/ most used iPhone apps. I’m the kind of person that has all my apps in folders of like categories. Call me crazy but that way they are easy to find when I need them! The folders are also arranged in alphabetical order. It really makes me feel like I have my life completely together.. HA.

I’ll get right to it then explain what I love about each one. My top 5 favorite apps right now are Instagram, Cozi, The Bump, Poshmark and Retail Me Not. I just love Instagram. I love taking photos, I love sharing memories, I love seeing what people are up to. My instagram is @mckebren – let’s connect!

Cozi is a calendar app that helps my husband and I stay on top of our family events. These are all free apps but are very useful. The Bump is my pregnancy tracking up. It gives me daily updates on our baby and how far along I am. Such a fun app for a mom-to-be! Poshmark is where I sell items in my closet I no longer want. I have found to have the best luck with shoes or name brand items though but once someone bought a toe ring from me so you never know what may sell! My posh account is also @mckebren – I don’t have too much on there right now but check back and I probably will! I do closet clean outs frequently!

Last but certainly not least is Retail Me Not. I really don’t know how this app is free. Basically, its a coupon app. You type in any store and it will show you any in-store or online coupons available for that store at the time. I have saved quite a bit of money using it. My husband now asks me to check it when he’s going to buy something and 9 times out of 10 there is something. You really should download it and happy shopping!

I really hoped you enjoyed reading this and will download these apps if they apply to you or you don’t already have them! Have a great rest of your day!!!

Nesting, Decluttering and Label Maker Obsession

Hello all! I am currently in my third trimester of pregnancy and am figuring out that “nesting” is actually a real thing. I always heard people talk about it and just took it with a grain of salt.. pshh, that won’t be me. Oh, but it is! And I love it! I feel no shame in wanting our home to be as ready as it can be for baby. Like Marie Kondo, I only keep the items that spark joy still. My other tactic is having bins/ containers for the items to be stored/ organized in then I label it. I’ll show you some photos of some of the tidying up projects I’ve been working on.

This was my closet before…
This is my closet now πŸ™‚ I took everything out. I decided what sparked joy and what didn’t any more. Then I grouped them into like categories and color coordinated them. Now when I put away clean clothes, I just look for the section and color.. and it actually stays organized! YAY

This was our linen closet before^ ^This is our linen closet now πŸ™‚

Next up…shoes. This one was almost embarrassing but to see them all laid out really helped me to narrow it down.
This is what I was left with! It was hard to do but you can’t keep shoes you never wear!

Organizing and decluttering brings me joy and is a stress reliever for me! People have asked me how do you have time for that? I just make time for the things that bring me joy! πŸ™‚ If you think its so satisfying to look at before and after photos for a space like me, leave me a comment! I’d love to hear from you! Have a great rest of your day and thanks for reading!

Top 10 Family Highlights From 2018

What an incredible year!! My husband and I sure had a great year. As I reflect on the past year and look forward to what 2019 has in store, I wanted to share our top 10 favorite memories.

1.) Our move from Columbus, Oh back home to Michigan! We moved back to be by our families.

2.) We got our sweet, sweet pup. Her name is Maui because that is where we honeymooned. We got her in June as a birthday present for me. Such a fun gift!

3.) Getting my first digital camera and having fun with it!

4.) Going to Orange Beach, AL with my hubs and grandparents. Such a fun vacation and great way to spend quality time with them!

5.) Buying our first home together. What a joy! A long process but very worth it. I love making a house feel like a home.

6.) Being in some of my best friends weddings. Being a bridesmaid is literally so fun!

7.) Going to Newport, RI for a wedding and exploring around! David and I took this little lime green topless buggy around the island. What a fun time! Such a beautiful area.

10 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Me

I love these kinds of posts. I always love learning fun facts about people. I think it is so awesome how we are all so uniquely different and that’s what makes life fun! So here is my list.

1.) I lived in Columbus, Ohio for a year after college graduation.

2.) I like to keep my blog posts (for the most part) simple, direct and to the point. Unless, elaboration is necessary. I just enjoy small paragraphs or lists. Its a lot easier to read in my opinion.

3.) I don’t like pop. The fizz freaks me out.

4.) I have never ordered a salad from a restaurant. I still think eating leaves as a human is a weird concept but it works for a lot of people! (Which is great) I realize I’m in the minority here.

5.) I traveled all over the U.S. growing up. My family had a motorhome and we were always going on trips. I have such fond memories from my childhood. I’m not sure if I actually ever celebrated a birthday at home growing up, we were always on the go. (Not complaining!)

6.) Writing is a true passion and creative outlet for me.

7.) I transferred twice in college and graduated in 4 years.

8.) I’m a board game/cards fanatic. Uno, Euchre, Scrabble, anything! Love it.

9.) I played ice hockey growing up. I threw discus and shot put in High School, as well as golf and basketball.

10.) I liked High School more than College. Most times, its the reverse.

Let me know if we have anything in common or any questions you have for me. I truly hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!
