What I Actually Used in my Hospital Delivery Bag (And what I should of left at home)

Hello friends! I just had a baby about 3 weeks ago so this is fresh in my mind and relevant. During my pregnancy I often wondered if I overpacked, packed enough or knew exactly what to pack for delivery. I had a bag for my stuff, a bag for my bathroom/toiletry stuff, a bag for baby and a bag for my husband. That worked out well for us. I am going to mainly focus on what I packed and actually used from my bag in this blog post. But it’s important to note that for baby you will need a carseat, a going home outfit, blanket, pacifier and burp cloths. The hospital will provide diapers and wipes while you are there.

What I actually used while at the hospital:

  • Slippers
  • Nursing nightgown & robe set
  • Shampoo, conditioner & body wash
  • Hair brush/ products
  • Mascara, blush and light foundation
  • Comfortable, loose going home outfit
  • My own pillows from home
  • My own blanket from home
  • Fuzzy socks
  • Mad-libs
  • 2 nursing bras
  • Hair Tie
  • Chapstick
  • Flip Flops
  • Digital camera
  • Extra bag for things they gave me to take home
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush & toothpaste

Bringing items from home, especially like your own pillow and blanket give a nice comfort. Also chapstick is a MUST! My lips were dry very often while I was there, so my favorite chapstick was great to have on deck. Also the first shower is somewhat daunting so having my own soaps and wearing my own flip flops was comforting.

What I could of left at home:

  • Underware
  • 4 “extra” just in case outfits
  • Extra socks
  • Depends/ pads from home

I never once wore my own undies there. After delivery they give you mesh undies that are not super sexy but work really well with the large pad they provide so just roll with it lol. Also I was only there one night so extra outfits were not necessary. I wore my slippers most of the time and fuzzy socks with grips when I felt like it.

What the hospital provided:

  • Pads
  • Mesh Undies
  • Pain Spray
  • Witch Hazel pads
  • A Squirt Bottle
  • A Halo Sleep Sack
  • Booklets/ papers on papers

I hope this post was helpful for new first time moms or any moms! Being a mom is the greatest thing ever so congrats and good luck to any mom-to-be reading this! Totally feel free to contact me with any other questions. I am a pretty open book! Have a wonderful rest of your day!
